Porcelain worktops — brands, benefits & coverage

About Porcelain Worktops

RH Stone Surfaces supplies and installs porcelain worktops across the North East. Founded in 1950, we are a family-run business with over seven decades of experience in premium stone surfaces, serving homeowners, kitchen designers, retailers and trade customers from our South Shields showroom and fabrication workshop.

Porcelain surfaces come in everything from calm minimal styles to bold natural-stone looks. The final result comes down to the slab you choose, the layout, and the quality of the fabrication and fitting. Every worktop is templated, fabricated and installed in-house, giving customers a joined-up process from slab selection through to final fit.

Why Homeowners Choose Porcelain

High-End, Modern Aesthetic

Porcelain is brilliant for clean, modern kitchens — especially when you want a crisp finish, minimal joins, and a premium feel.

Large Slab Options

Many porcelain ranges come in large formats, which can help create a sleek look across islands, runs and splashbacks.

Huge Choice of Looks

From marble-effect to concrete-effect and bold contemporary patterns — porcelain gives you loads of design flexibility.

Sharp Detailing & Clean Edges

When fabricated and fitted properly, porcelain creates clean lines and crisp detailing that looks expensive and intentional.

Works Across Kitchens & Bathrooms

Porcelain works beautifully beyond kitchens too — vanity tops, feature walls, and modern bathroom surfaces.

Premium Look That Stays Stylish

A strong choice if you want a timeless, modern finish that still looks current years later.

Our Process

We handle the full process: advice on slab choice, accurate templating, fabrication, and clean installation. Most customers contact us once their kitchen units are fitted and the project is ready for accurate measuring. From there, we arrange templating, fabricate the worktops in-house at our South Shields workshop and handle the full installation. Having templating, fabrication and fitting under one roof means fewer handoffs and a more controlled result for both domestic and trade customers.

Common Questions

Is porcelain a good choice for a busy family kitchen?

Yes — it's popular because it looks premium and suits modern kitchens. The key is choosing the right slab and getting the fabrication and fitting spot on.

Do you supply and install porcelain worktops across the North East?

Yes. We supply, fabricate and install across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Middlesbrough and nearby areas.

How do you price porcelain worktops?

Pricing depends on slab choice, layout, thickness, cut-outs (hob/sink), edges, and installation requirements. Send your plan and we'll quote properly.

Can porcelain be used for vanity tops and bathrooms?

Absolutely. Porcelain is a great choice for vanity tops and bathroom surfaces when you want a clean, modern and premium finish.

Can I view full slabs before choosing?

Yes. Our South Shields showroom holds a range of full slabs across porcelain, quartz, granite, marble and quartzite. Viewing a full slab gives a much clearer sense of the finish and scale than a small sample alone.
